My husband and I recently moved back to SW Michigan and bought a 5 acre homestead where we are trying our hand at raising chickens and applying sustainable garden techniques such as permaculture and biointensive gardening. My husband is a chef and culinary instructor, so our goal is to grow at least 50% of our food on site. We will be posting videos of our projects on a regular basis. These will include what we have learned about raising chickens and using that production for eggs, meat and fertilizer; ways to extend the garden season in Michigan; meat fabrication; and cooking demonstrations. We don't claim to be experts, but we take our growing ideas from people like Sepp Holzer, Paul Wheaton, Joe Salatin, Justin Rhodes, Toby Hemenway, etc. Some projects work and some don't, but we will post what we learn along the way so others can learn from what we are doing.
